Artist, Laura O. Cenedella
I will do my part and work every day to help the arts stay alive. Art is not what I do, it is what I am!
Being disabled has taught me that each day may be all that you have. Art came back to my life in 1998 Paralyzed for many years, when all I could do is wake up, get washed and dressed, fed and be put back to bed. I knew there had to be more. With the help of a great physical therapist I was able to reach down in my soul and I found my creativity, my artistic self that had been repressed for many years.
In 2006, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (abbreviated MS, also known as disseminated sclerosis or encephalomyelitis disseminata) is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the central nervous system (CNS), leading to demyelization. This was not a death sentence but an explanation and an opportunity for me to continue to do what I enjoy doing.
Today my artistic light shines bright and I have made an oath to myself to every day give to the arts and to others in the arts. When I have finished a painting, attended a meetings, an art event or just thinking about the arts, I may be inspiring artists, entertaining art admirers or just helping myself.
My life is fulfilled.
