I found that I have an interest in many different subjects, mediums and great enthusiasm for the expression of painting. So I found out what works for me is not about planning, but it’s the journey that makes a difference in my life. Like any journey one will hit dead ends, but will also find places and people who open my eyes and my mind. I am a art instructor, an adventurer and a helper. I enjoy nature & landscapes, the images that stay with me forever. My landscapes are nearly always of places that I have been to and remember well. Portraits are my biggest challenges and my most fulfilling. People and animals have always intrigued me ever since I was a child. I am never so pleased when I can capture the trueness or the personality of a woman, man, child or animal. The bigger canvas is, the more extraordinary the work. I prefer to paint large. I have painted large interior wall murals, sides of barns, fences and canvases up to 5’ x 8’. I am not what you would define as a traditional painter, more so a contemporary artist. My paintings can be found on many different surfaces, annually painted sugaring buckets, iron cylinders, wooden surfaces and glass. Being disabled has taught me that each day may be all that you have. I have painted since I was 5 along side my mother, Cape Cod Artist Adele Morgan Osborne. I attended High School as an Art Major and due to the “Starving Artist”, title; I was encouraged to give up my notion of becoming a professional Artist. In 1993 at the age of 25, I became paralyzed and suffered numerous illnesses that continued on and off for many years. With the help of a great physical therapist I was able to reach down in my soul and I find my creativity and my artistic self that had been repressed.
In 2006, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the central nervous system (CNS), leading to demyelization. This was not a death sentence, but an explanation to many suffering years. Being permanently disabled has giving me the opportunity to continue to do what I enjoy doing.
Today my artistic light shines bright and I have made an oath to myself to every day give to the arts and to others. When I have finished a painting, attended a meeting, an art event or just thinking about the art, I may be inspiring artists, entertaining art admirers or just helping myself. My life is fulfilled!
